Foghat - Tight Shoes (1980)

EAC | CD Image | FLAC+CUE+LOG+Covers | 300 mb+3% recovery

Review by Jason Anderson (allmusic.com)
When Foghat founder Lonesome Dave Peverett (lead vocals and guitar) started his career with Savoy Brown in the late '60s, there was still something progressive about young Brits tackling American blues, R&B, and even some rockabilly, but as the musician entered his third decade of recording, artistic compromises and commercial success had watered-down the entire genre of blues-based hard rock, thanks largely to bands like his own. Although Foghat had released a string of very successful recordings, the group's final two releases of the '70s, Stone Blue and Boogie Motel, both suffered from declining (although still substantial) sales. Peverett's response to the suddenly suspect viability of his group's arena rock sound was to take his songwriting in a more modern (if not quite fitting) direction on Tight Shoes. New wave and punk had emerged out of the U.K. in the late '70s, largely in response to the somewhat formulaic and self-aggrandizing hard rock that had somehow overtaken the entire non-disco musical landscape. Although listeners might cringe while trying to imagine a musical amalgam somewhere between "Slow Ride" and "Watching the Detectives," assessing Foghat's attempt at eclecticism isn't quite as simple as it may appear. The group's musicianship and studio finesse keep tracks like the single "Stranger in My Home Town" and "Baby Can I Change Your Mind" from becoming awkward attempts at timeliness. Instead, Foghat successfully incorporates stripped-down sonics and simpler, almost pop arrangements into Tight Shoes, making it more than a hopeless grasp at musical relevance, making it worthwhile.
Tracklist:
1. Stranger In My Home Town
2. Loose Ends
3. Full Time Lover

5. Too Late The Hero

By request: Bachman - Any Road (1992)

EAC | CD Image | APE+CUE+LOG+Covers | 372 mb+3% recovery

This 1992 release features guest appearances by fellow Canadians, vocalist Margo Timmins of the Cowboy Junkies and Neil Young on the track "Prarie Town." "If you yearn for the days was guitar playing, and singers told it like it was...this is definitely an album for you! Most highly recommended." - Jim Brown, from the West Coast Music Review. Says Randy: "There are a lot of retrospective songs on Any Road. I never really did commentary songs before. Like, in "Fifteen Minutes of Fame," I'm angry. In "Vanishing Heroes," I'm in bewilderment. I'm asking, where are all the heroes? Then there is this wonderful retrospective look back at growing up in Winnipeg, which is both versions of "Prarie Town," slow and fast. I've had musicians come up to me and say, 'That is the ultimate Canadian song for any musician from the sixties and seventies.' It tells everything. From learning to drive in the snow, going from coast to coast… There are some lines in there that I don't even know how I wrote them... it was a fun, great album to record - very satisfying for me as far as a personal statement and my first step out on my own after many, many years."  (randybachman.com)

EAC | CD Image | FLAC+CUE+LOG+Covers | 386 mb+3% recovery

This is the only album by Polish group Test, founded and led by vocalist Wojciech Gassowski (previously with ABC), one of the greatest representatives of Polish Rock scene in the early 1970 and the first Hard Rock group in the country. The group included the talents of the great lead guitarist Dariusz Kozakiewich (immortalized by his extraordinary performance on the "Blues" album with Breakout). Test's instrumental sound was based on organ and brass instruments in addition to the usual lead guitar / bass / drums present in all groups at the time. In retrospect this music represents some of the best sounds of the incredible Polish music scene at the time. This expanded edition includes also the group's early radio material.

Teaze - One Night Stands (1979)

EAC | CD Image | APE+CUE+LOG+Covers | 256 mb+3% recovery

The story of Teaze is one of unbridled success in foreign lands, yet often a constant struggle for mere recognition on their native soil. Formed in 1975 by Brian Danter on bass guitar and vocals and Marc Bradac on guitars in Windsor, Ontario, the group also consisted of Mike Kozak on drums and guitarist Chuck Price. Powered by a heavy but no-nonsense approach, dinghy bars and crowded nightclubs served as the group's backdrop for the next couple of years, all the while honing their sound, but never really gaining a substantial following with the local crowds. Re-post: Hungária - Tűzveszélyes (1971)

Cult Hungarian rock band, Hungaria was founded in 1967. Original line-up: Miklos Fenyo (vocals, keyboards), Peter Csomos (guitar, vocals), Miklos Matlakovszky (guitar), Laszlo Klein (bass), Peter Lang (sax), Jozsef Toth (drums).
1969 saw first personnel change with Matlakovszky, Klein and Land leaving, and Tamas Barta (guitar) and Peter Sipos (bass, vocals) coming in. Hungaria spent most of the 70s touring across the Europe (USSR, Poland, East and West Germany, Spain). Released an album worth of Beatles’ covers in 1978. 80s’ albums were all marked with rock’n’roll revival idiom.
Hungaria went through many personnel changes with Fenyo remaining the only permanent member and other musicians coming and going: Zoltan Kekes (guitar, vocals, 1972-1980), Gabor Antal Szucs (guitar, 1971, then – Skorpió ->), Laszlo Klein (bass, returned briefly in 1971), Peter Sipos (bass, 1972-1980), Gyula Fekete (sax, 1972-1985), Gabor Fekete (drums, 1971, then - Skorpio), Robert Szikora (drums, vocals, 1972-1982), Dolly (vocals, 1980-1985, then - Dolly Roll), Flipper Öcsi (vocals, 1980-1985, then - Dolly Roll, Step), Zoltan Kékes (guitar, 1980-1985, then Dolly Roll), Deddy Zsoldos (1982-85, drums, then - Dolly Roll)

The guitars are heavy on the fuzz distortion sound (like Blue Cheer and stoner-revival groups in US) This debut album was partly recorded live in Germany, and is the only widely known release by them. Bergendy - Beat ablak - Világslágerek (1971)

EAC | FLAC TRACKS+CUE+LOG+Covers | 322 mb+3% recovery

Bergendy group was founded in 1960 by a company of students from the University of Budapest: Istvan Bergendy (sax, piano, organ, vocals), Peter Bergendy (flute, sax, vocals), Sandor Hajdu (organ, piano, flute, vocals), Gyorgy Oroszlan (guitar, vocals), Norbert Latzin (piano, organ, guitar, bass, vocals), Bela Casaky (drums, vocals), Karoly Gaspar (bass). Later line-ups also included Czaba Debreceni (drums) and Ferenc Demjen (lead vocals, guitar).
Within two years band became a desired guest for any youth club in Budapest area. Won Grand-prix of 1963 national song festival.
1971 saw the release of Bergendy debut LP. Band adopted comic image (aka clown stage dresses, unusual haircuts, pantomime, etc.), but presented a rather serious and solid blend of jazz, pop and rock in finest traditions of Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears.
Released a highly interesting (but obscure) album of cover versions of Western pop and rock standards, remembered mostly because of inclusion of a weird version of Deep Purple 1969 smash Black Night with horns playing main riff. Enjoyed success with three more Hungarian albums in mid-70s.

1. Tramp - részelet (Otis Redding)
2. The Neanderthal Man (Kevin Godley)
3. The Witch (The Rattles)
4. Black Night (Deep Purple)

EAC | CD Image | FLAC+CUE+LOG+Covers | 259 mb+3% recovery

Wikipedia:
Eddy Grant is a Plaisance, Guyana born musician. When he was still a young boy, his parents emigrated to London, UK, where he settled. He lived in Kentish Town and went to school at the Acland Burghley Secondary Modern at Tufnell Park. He had his first Number One hit in 1968, when he was the lead guitarist and main songwriter of the multiracial group The Equals, with his self-penned song "Baby Come Back". The tune also later topped the UK Singles Chart again when covered by Pato Banton. Notably, he openly used his songwriting for political purposes, especially against the then-current apartheid regime of South Africa.
The Equals were a pop/reggae/rock group that formed in North London, England in 1965. Eddy Grant, then sporting dyed blonde hair, founded the group. Also in the original line-up were the twin brothers Derv and Lincoln Gordon, as well as John Hall and Pat Lloyd.

This soft rock trio from Los Angeles, California consisted of guitarist Dan Hamilton (originally from Wetnatchee, Washington), bassist Joe Frank Carollo (from Leland, Mississippi) and drummer Tommy Reynolds (from New York City). The three first came together in a studio instrumental group known as The T-Bones. During the early sixties, it was not uncommon for a record company to release material recorded by studio sessionmen and pass it off to the unsuspecting public as being recordings by a real, live rock 'n' roll ensemble.
